"The Netherlands wants to be fully circular by 2050. The environmental impact of resource use in a circular economy, that is, of all Dutch production and consumption, will then be within 'planetary' limits." A gigantic task. Therefore, this mission is broken down into four intermediate goals. These focus on:
- reduction of raw material use
- substitution
- life extension
- high-quality provision
A circular economy makes an important contribution to four major societal challenges:
- Combating climate change
- Cleaner environment and cleaner living conditions
- Restoration of biodiversity
- Greater security of supply of raw materials
