DesignLab: Guiding without Lines

Today’s innovation challenges are more complex than ever, interrelated and part of complex societal, technological, and environmental systems. The Responsible Futuring Approach, developed by the Designlab of the University of Twente, builds upon the tradition of design thinking combined with trans-disciplinary practices, responsible design and social involvement for societal impact and citizen science. By using a collaborative ecosystem for innovative changemakers the input and expertise of all participants can be valued equally to responsibly co-shape societal challenges.

Dianneris Díaz, current member of the DreamTeam, will elaborate on how the pillars of the DesignLab methodology materialise in everyday interactions and projects. She will explore DesignLab as a space, its everyday interactions and projects. By focusing on the characteristics of the space and the possibilities for collaboration in, and in between the academic and non-academic spheres, she will give light on the aspects that make DesignLab an experimental environment.

Dianneris Diaz is the representative of the University of Twente Designlab, where she works as a member of the DreamTeam on innovative projects related to sustainability and design. She moved for her studies from Ecuador to The Netherlands, where she developed her creative design passion both theoretical and practical, alternating her focus between design research and design applications. She recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the University of Twente (2022) and will continue her studies in Interaction Technology while remaining a DreamTeam member.
