PROGRAM KEY ENABLING METHODOLOGIES (KEMs)

DESIGN METHODS FOR PROFESSIONALS CONTRIBUTING TO SOLUTIONS TO SOCIETAL CHALLENGES

Global challenges and transitions require innovations and adjustments to existing systems. For successful implementation, (technological) innovations must connect to the needs of people and society. KEMs (Key Enabling Methodologies) provide methods, strategies and tools that help design meaningful applications. Applications that are created using technology and behavioral insights.

In the coming years, the KEMs program, together with the KEM network, will focus on making better use and application of KEMs in practice.

THE PROGRAM KEMS

The multi-year KEMs program will work in the coming years to:

  • better utilization and applicability of KEMs in practice,
  • a better understanding of how KEMs can be used most effectively in combination,
  • strengthening the preconditions for the development and deployment of KEMs,
  • building a KEM network of researchers, applicators and other experts for mutual knowledge exchange and learning.

The KEMs program is currently in the start-up phase.

KEM-NETWORK

The KEM Network was launched in 2024 as a CLICKNL-driven growing network of researchers and applicators of KEMs. Applicators can visit the online platform kems.nl for inspiration and ideation. In addition, the network meets 2 or 3 times a year to exchange knowledge and work out steps to strengthen the development and application of KEMs. International interest in KEMs, as a Dutch concept, is also growing and the KEM agenda is now available in English version.
